The Centre for Women's Studies at the University of York invites applications for Visiting Scholarships from distinguished researchers in the field of Women's and Gender Studies who would like to spend 1-3 months either in the autumn (Oct - Dec) or in the spring (Jan/Feb-March/April) at the Centre, pursuing their own research and contributing to the research seminars in the Centre. The Centre has particular research interests in sexuality studies, diaspora and diversity, and new media technologies. However, applications are warmly invited from scholars working in other areas related to Women's Studies.
Visiting scholars will be provided with an office, access to a computer and the resources the Centre and the University have to offer. Since no stipend is attached to the visiting scholarships, this position would suit a researcher on paid sabbatical leave or with funding to conduct research in the UK.
Applications to the Centre should be made by 15 June for the autumn term of that year, and by 15 November for the spring term of the following year. Applications should include a cv with details of the length of stay proposed, and a brief covering letter outlining the research the visiting scholar intends to undertake. For further information please email Professor Gabriele Griffin (gabriele.griffin@york.ac.uk) or Prof Stevi Jackson (stevi.jackson@york.ac.uk). Applications, marked 'Visiting Scholar Application', should be sent to Prof Gabriele Griffin, Centre for Women's Studies, University of York, Heslington, York YO10 5DD.
