The Dissertation

MA in Women's Sudies
MA in Women's Sudies (Humanities)
MA in Women's Sudies (Social Research)
MA Women, Violence and Conflict

The final stage of the MA is the completion of the dissertation. Preparation for this takes place during the research training modules, with the summer term devoted to individual presentations of work in progress to the rest of the group. Each student has a dissertation supervisor with whom she works, and this is often the most exciting and challenging part of the course. Several of our MA dissertations have been turned into books, including Niamh Baker's Happily Ever After? (Macmillan, 1989), Pat Spallone's Beyond Conception (Macmillan, 1989) and Wendy Webster's Not a Man to Match Her: The Marketing of a Prime Minister (Women's Press, 1990). The dissertation is prepared for submission by 22 September of the final year of a student's registration.
