MA offer holders event

Friday 24 May 2013, 1.15PM to 6.45pm

The Department is pleased to confirm an afternoon of events for offer holders for the MA in History of Art and associated pathway degrees on the afternoon of Friday 24th May.

For those of you unfamiliar with York, we've timed the event in such a way that you could plan to spend all or part of the bank holiday weekend in York if you wish, so you can really get to know it. Details about transport and accommodation can be found here: http://www.york.ac.uk/about/visitors/.

For those of you already familiar with York, you may wish to attend only some of the sessions, which is absolutely fine - just let us know which ones you would like to come along to.

The schedule for the afternoon is as follows:

13:15-14:15 (King's Manor Campus - please gather at the porter's lodge in time to leave at 13.15)  -  Walking tour of York: for those unfamiliar with our inspiring city.

15:00-15:15 (Heslington West Campus, Berrick Saul Building, Treehouse)  -  Humanities Research Centre (HRC): a talk from the HRC Director, Judith Buchanan, about the benefits of the HRC, to which all postgraduates gain automatic membership.

15:15-16:00 (Treehouse)  -  The student experience: short talks from current students about their experiences, including the opportunity to ask questions.

16:00-16:15 (Treehouse)  -  Coffee break.

16:15-17:00 (Treehouse)  -  Partnership studentships: learn more about these opportunities from current award holders, and find out how to apply. Includes the opportunity to ask questions.

17:00-17:45 (Around Heslington West Campus)  -  Walking tour of campus with current students, taking in the HRC, the Borthwick Institute, and the grounds.

17:45-18:45 (Norman Rea Gallery, Derwent College)  -  Drinks reception: meet current staff at an informal drinks reception in the on-campus and student-run Norman Rea Gallery.

To register to attend, please e-mail our Postgraduate Administrator, Susanna Broom (susanna.broom@york.ac.uk). Directions can be supplied on request.

If you cannot come along on 24th May, but would like to pay us a visit, we'd be very happy to arrange to meet you on another occasion, so please don't hesitate to get in touch.
