Laura qualified as a registered mental health nurse from the University of Edinburgh in 2005. She has worked clinically across the Yorkshire region, predominately in older people’s community mental health services before moving into a strategic role with responsibility for standards of nursing practice across mental health and learning disability services. In 2015, Laura joined the University of York from the University of Bradford, where she was a Lecturer in Clinical Skills and Simulation. Her main interest lies in pre-registration nurse education, in particular teaching and learning in simulated environments. She is also interested in older people’s mental healthcare and supporting service users with complex needs, as well as quality and safety in mental health services.
