Life after Encephalitis

The Chief Executive of The Encephalitis Society will provide an overview of encephalitis, the role of medical narratives in history, and a unique insight into the experiences of those affected by the condition, an inflammation of the brain.

Ava will share the personal stories of survivors and family members and demonstrate how listening to patient and family narratives can help make sense of what has happened to them and also aid health professionals to better understand and engage with patients under their care.

The presentation will also be useful for anyone considering narratives associated with brain injuries from other causes, such as stroke and traumatic brain injury.

Life after Encephalitis has been highly praised by The Lancet Neurology and experts in the field of encephalitis.

Refreshments will be available before the event from 5.30pm and signed copies of the book will be available following the lecture.
