Professional Education Conference 2015 - Shaping up to care: reforming healthcare education

Monday 1 June 2015, 9.00AM to 3.45pm

Speaker(s): Key speakers include Lord Willis of Knaresborough, Chairperson of the Shape of Caring Review and Dr Peter Carter, General Secretary of the Royal College of Nursing

A one day conference aimed at nursing and midwifery practitioners, managers and mentors from the NHS, independent and voluntary sectors; service users and carers; undergraduate nursing and midwifery students; nursing and midwifery academics from higher education and further education providers.

Recent reports such as Willis, Francis, Cavendish and Berwick have recommended changes to the education of nurses and healthcare support workers. The most recent is the Shape of Caring review.

This conference will focus on the political impact of the Shape of Caring review on the education of our profession, the student experience and service user care.

Delegates will have an opportunity to hear from, and speak directly to, the architects of the Shape of Caring review and discuss the potential impact on practice education and roles.

The conference will be held at the Seebohm Rowntree Building, University of York, and will use Blackboard Collaborate.

Collaborate will allow delegates to be based both in York and Hull. The video and audio will be streamed to both locations and delegates will be able to interact, post questions and see and hear responses live.

Location: Department of Health Sciences, Seebohm Rowntree Building, ATB 056/057

Admission: There will be a charge of £10 per delegate but this will be refunded when attendance is confirmed on the day.
