Women on the frontline: Rights. Camera. Action.

Sunday 12 March 2017, 2.00PM to 16:00

As part of the York International Women's Festival, students from the University of York’s Centre for Applied Human Rights present Women on the Frontline: Rights. Camera. Action., a screening of short films about women human rights defenders both local and international. Approaching a range of human rights issues from torture and enforced disappearances in the Middle East and North Africa region, to direct action against fossil fuel extraction in Colombia and North Yorkshire, the films pose such questions as: what are human rights? Who can be a human rights defender? What do women do to protect human rights on a daily basis?

The screenings are followed by discussion with filmmakers and activists.

Book your free tickets via Eventbrite and follow event news on the Rights. Camera. Action Facebook page.
