Learning from HRDs: The use of law for human rights violations in Ethiopia

The public talk will cover the aspects of two recent legislations in Ethiopia that have been passed in 2009 in the aftermath of the 2005 national election. These are the 2009 anti-terrorism proclamation and civil societies' proclamation. The discussion will focus on why the government needed to introduce these laws, what are the main aspects of these laws, and how these laws have impacted on the human rights situation of the country.
