Rachael Kiddey

Research project

Rachael Kiddey is using archaeology as an approach to contemporary homelessness. Working with homeless people in Bristol (UK), Rachael aims to archaeologically map and record homeless heritage and better understand how homeless people use and view the city. This approach builds upon recent thinking that everyone should be facilitated to participate in heritage. She has recently begun shadowing local police and attending council led strategic meetings in order to examine disconnect between 'the problem' and the way in which services e.g. housing/drug/alcohol support, are offered. Working with homeless people makes Rachael's study unique.
