Equality and diversity statistics - student applications

Information on ethnicity for applications prior to 2009/0 is not available.

NB: When viewing the Equality and Diversity statistics relating to applications and students, please note that applications relates to all the applications received by the University for entry to each academic year (an individual can make more than one application to the University in a cycle, e.g. if applying for different courses) and students relates to the entire registered student population, therefore including students in different years of study and admitted over several admissions cycles. The two sets of statistics are not therefore directly comparable.

A guide to the work of the Planning Office and how these statistics were created is available in the Guide to Statistics. For further information or technical assistance with the manipulation of the above figures please contact the Planning Office.

For assistance with the interpretation of the above tables and graphs, or any further enquiries about equality and diversity at the University of York, please visit the Equality and Diversity Office website or email the office.

Requests for data

Statistics are updated throughout the year and are for the most recent year for which data is available. If you cannot find the data you need here, or have a specific request, please contact us in one of the following ways:

If you are requesting data from more than one university at the same time, we recommend that you first consult the Higher Education Statistical Agency (HESA) Information Provision service, which is able to provide consistent information across the sector based on statutory returns.
