YESI appoints Co-Lead for the Sustainable Food Research Theme

We are delighted to announce Prof. Tony Heron from the Department of Politics has joined Prof. Bob Doherty as Co-Lead for YESI’s Sustainable Food Research Theme.

Tony is a Professor of International Political Economy and N8 AgriFood Chair at the University of York. His current work is centred on interdisciplinary global food systems research, sustainability governance in global value chains and the political economy of agriculture in the context of the UK’s exit from the EU.

He is a principal/co-investigator on a number of interdisciplinary research projects, including YESI Supported Project ‘IKnowFood: Integrating Knowledge for Food Systems Resilience,’ ‘The UK-Latin American Soy Connection,’  ‘Promoting Effective Sustainability Governance in Global Supply Chains,’ ‘Immigration and Wellbeing,’ and ‘CASCADE - Climate Change and Systemic Risks: Adaptive and Resilient Europe.’

As Sustainable Food Research Theme Co-Lead, Tony will work alongside Prof. Bob Doherty, and the YESI team, to develop cutting-edge research in the area of sustainable food.  

Tony says ‘I am excited to work with YESI to drive the sustainable food research agenda forward at the University of York. Interdisciplinary research is essential in this area and is what YESI is all about!’
