Visiting Students

You can study in the Department of Theatre, Film and Television (TFTV) as a visiting student for either a whole year or part of a year. Visiting students study alongside our students studying for their BA or BSc.

A student would usually study 120 credits per year, equivalent to 60 ECTS credits, divided into approximately 40 credits per term. As a visiting student, your course choices will depend on when you come to study with us. Your home university will usually advise you about how many credits you should take, and what kinds of courses they are happy for you to study.

You can access more information about becoming a visiting student at York and what you can study on the central university webpages.

We look forward to welcoming you to York!

Our Student's Experiences

Hi, my name is Marie and I came from Canada to study in the TFTV program at The University of York.

After attending the orientation sessions in my first week, I already knew I was in for an incredible experience. From the start, professors made it clear that they encourage bold ideas and that they treat students as professionals to help them grow. Both the staff and students at The University of York are friendly, approachable, and helpful. While attending classes, every professor I had was incredibly passionate about the subject they were teaching and also took the time to get to know each student by name. The TFTV students are inclusive and genuinely care to make sure you have all the resources you need to help with classes. The TFTV classes offer hands-on learning that allow you to grow as a creative and also teach you real-world techniques for future careers. My exchange at The University of York has been life-changing.
