Our three undergraduate degrees – Film and Television Production; Theatre: Writing, Directing and Performance; and Interactive Media – are intellectually stimulating, academically rigorous and equip students with the skills needed to work in the creative industries (see our graduate achievement pages). All three programmes also reflect our commitment to linking theory and practice, and reflecting the increasing artistic, industrial and technological connections between different media.
BSc Film and Television Production
We have an overall satisfaction score of 91%. We're first in the Russell Group in three areas ('Academic Support', 'Learning Resources' and 'Student Voice'), and second in a further three ('Teaching on my Course', 'Learning Opportunities' and 'Learning Community').
BSc Interactive Media
We have an overall satisfaction score of 90%. We have over 90% satisfaction in five areas, and are first in the Russell Group for 'Learning Opportunities' and 'Organisation and Management'.
All three programmes are based on University of York Campus East in our £30M, purpose-built facilities. We have a 200-seat professional theatre, a "black box" performance space that can also be used as a shooting stage for film, two high-definition television studios, dressing rooms, costume stores, rehearsal rooms, as well as production and postproduction equipment and facilities. There are also two labs for Interactive Media - a high specification computer lab with interactive peripherals such as game consoles, Leap Motion sensors, tracking cameras and high-end immersive virtual reality headsets; and a design lab for user experience evaluation and creative design work.
The University of York offers a number of scholarships for its students. The various scholarships have different eligibility criteria, amongst these are the level of the programme of study, and tuition fee status.
