Two of our recent students have made the quarter finals of the 2016 Blue Cat Screenplay Cordelia Awards, which is presented to the best feature screenplay submitted by a writer residing in the United Kingdom. The students are:

Jonathan Carr (PhD in Creative Practice - Film) for his screenplay Function Creep.

And Tom Boughton (BSc Film and Television Production 2015), for his 2015 Individual Project: Screenwriting screenplay The People We Lost.

Both submitted scripts that they wrote as part of their courses, under the supervision of our lecturer in screenwriting, Simon van der Borgh. They did very well to get this far; only 39 writers were shortlisted out of 414 UK applicants. The semi-finalists will be announced on March 1st 2016; the eventual winner gets a cash prize of $2,000.

UPDATE 2nd March: Jonathan Carr has now made it into the semi-final, one of only 21 scripts to go through.
