The Department of Theatre, Film and Television is located on the Heslington East campus of the University of York.  The Department is easily accessible by public transport with both a taxi pick-up point and bus stop next to the building.

Directions from the A64

Follow the outer ring road (A64 north) to the junction with the Hull/Bridlington roads (A1079/A166). Turn off at the exit marked University and follow the signs towards the city centre. Access to Heslington East Campus is via the Hull Road Grimston Bar Park and Ride entrance on the left. Proceed straight on at the roundabout past the Park and Ride entrance and York Sports Village on the left, at the mini roundabout continue straight on, arriving at the first of two pay and display car parks Kimberlow Lane and Field Lane.  Parking is charged at a rate of £1 per hour or £6 per day, and is free at weekends and between 6pm and 8am.

Directions from the Heslington West campus

Follow University Road towards Heslington Hall. Turn left onto Field Lane and follow the road past St Paul's Church, going straight ahead at the traffic lights. Continue to the next roundabout and head for the A1079 Hull Road turning right at the roundabout, passing a petrol station and B&Q on the left. At the traffic lights take the far right hand land, and then the right hand slip lane to Grimston Bar Park and Ride.

SatNavs

For satnav users, we recommend using YO10 5GY which will take you via the Grimston Bar Park and Ride; vehicle access to Heslington East and onto Kimberlow Lane pay and display car park.

Parking

Limited parking is available on the Heslington East campus in the Kimberlow and Field Lane pay and display car parks.  If parking is unavailable in Kimberlow Lane or Field Lane car parks visitors are advised to park on the Heslington West campus and use the free shuttle bus service to reach Heslington East. Parking is charged at a rate of £1 per hour or £6 per day, and is free at weekends and between 6pm and 8am.

Pleast note: the pay & display machines do not accept notes or credit/debit cards.

Buses

There are buses from the city centre approximately every 5 minutes during the day, and it takes around 20 minutes to reach the campus.

The UoY66 services runs from York railway station, to Campus West and Campus East, via the city centre. To find the bus stop, exit the railway station through the main entrance and cross the zebra crossing directly in front of you to exit the covered area. Once you are outside, cross a second zebra crossing to a small island where you can catch the UoY66 bus to campus.

The UoY66 service starts from Campus East, running through Campus West (heslington road and heslington hall) and the city centre, and stopping at the railway station. This service runs every 7-8 minutes on Monday to Saturday and every 10 minutes on a Sunday.

The UoY66a service runs from York Sports Village, Campus East, Heslington Hall (Campus West), Lawrence Street into the city centre. This service runs up to every 15 minutes on a Monday to Saturday and every 20 minutes on a Sunday.

The UoY66x service is a morning direct bus which runs three trips at 7.30am, 8.00am and 8.20am from Monday to Friday (Term Time Only) from York Train Station Direct to the University of York and York Sports Village.

The ub.1 is a dedicated free shuttle bus service for travel around the Heslington campus during term-time. The UoY66 and UoY66a also provide free travel around the Heslington campus.

On Foot or Cycle

Heslington East is half a mile (800m) from Heslington Hall along the shared walking/cycle route to Field Lane.  Cycle racks are provided across the campus.
