This research will examine the phenomena of what I call “Thai remake culture” in Thai society. I will carry out this investigation by discussing soap opera. Unlike British soap opera, Thai soap opera is characterised by the same storyline being remade many times. This study will analyse some selective Thai opera case studies are in order to identify a model of remake culture, one which will draws on structuralism.
I previously received my BA in the Theatre Drama Department in Thammasat University, Thailand. After this I came to the UK and completed MA Design Studies in Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, University of the Arts, London. I also took a course entitled Theatre Design in the RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) summer school. Between 2002 - 2006, I worked in the BBC World Service for both the Thai section and the Marketing department. This work enabled me to observe the feedback provided by Thai audiences.
My research interest is in media culture and focus on narrative structure studies.
I am one of the founders of amthaipaper, the first Thai newspaper in the UK , where I currently work as an editor.
