Profile

Biography

After completing a BA and an MA in English and Related Literature at York, I began a PhD in the TFTI department under the supervision of Professor Duncan Petrie, graduating in 2016. My thesis focused on the British filmmaker Terence Davies, and I have delivered several conference papers on his work.

I joined the department as an Associate Lecturer in Television and Film in September 2021, but I have taught regularly in TFTI since 2011 on a range of modules relating to film history, theory and aesthetics. This year, I will teach on the following undergraduate modules: Television: History and Analysis, The Discipline of Genre, Non-Fiction Forms of Film and Television, Current Issues in Film and Television and Content Development.

I have also worked extensively with the Centre for Lifelong Learning and the City Screen cinema, facilitating short courses on a variety of cinematic subjects, including the French New Wave, Ingmar Bergman, film noir, Orson Welles, Luis Buñuel, Federico Fellini, Japanese cinema of the 1950s and 1960s, and Agnès Varda.
