The department's film and TV courses approved by Creative Skillset

Posted on 23 October 2012

Creative Skillset, the sector skills council, has accredited ALL the department's film and TV courses.

Our film and TV courses have been awarded the Creative Skillset Tick, the industry kitemark of quality, following a rigorous assessment process by experts working in the Creative Industries. The Creative Skillset Tick is awarded to practice-based courses which best prepare students for a career in the industry.

Creative Skillset is the Sector Skills Council for the Creative Industries - a government-sponsored, industry-led body supporting skills and training for the film, television and digital media industries and much else besides. We were invited by Skillset to apply for accreditation about a year ago, and the process involved a day-long visit from Creative Skillset's accreditation team.

Being accredited means our courses reflect current practice in the the film and TV industries; our staff are professional and up-to-date, and have good industry contacts and credentials; and our facilities and equipment are state-of-the-art.

The courses that have been accredited are:

  • the MA in Digital Film and Television Production
  • the BSc in Film and Television Production
  • the MA/Msc in Post-Production with Visual Effects or Sound Design.

Notes to editors:

The Creative Skillset Tick is awarded to courses and apprenticeship provision that has been thoroughly assessed against strict industry criteria. It is the quality mark for employer approved provision in the Creative Industries.
