PLATFORM presents: 1984

Friday 1 March 2019, 7.30PM to 10.00pm

In the super-state of Oceania, Big Brother stares out from every poster, the Thought Police uncover every act of betrayal, and Room 101 is used to discipline those who exercise any notion of dissent - even in the mind. Despite the constant observation, Winston Smith begins to question Big Brother and the ruling Party, uncovering a twisted world of conspiracy...

1984 directly emphasises the dangers of subliminal mind control and confinement. Who are we being shaped into? Are our identities being moulded beyond our control?’

Platform produces and supports work created by students from the Theatre, Film and Television Department at the University of York.
