Michael Frayn is one of the most distinguished of living writers. A distinguished, novelist, translator and screenwriter, he is also one of the UK's leading playwrights.
His theatrical successes include two of the most brilliant of contemporary comedies, Noises Off and Make and Break, and two of the finest political plays of the second half of the twentieth century (both premiered at the National Theatre), Copenhagen and Democracy.
He has won many prestigious literary awards including the Hawthornden prize, the Somerset Maugham Award, the Whitbread Best Novel Award, and a Golden PEN Award for a Lifetime's Distinguished Service to Literature.
We are delighted to welcome him to York, where he will be in conversation with Professor John Bowen.
