Saturday 13 June 2015, 12.00PM to 14 Jun 8pm

Three years young, the LUMA Film Festival was the brainchild of a group of students on the inaugural Film and TV production course at the University of York. In 2013, the LUMA Film Festival was spread over two days in June and was held as part of the University of York’s Festival of Ideas. Not only were there screenings of the department’s work, but there was also fascinating talks from Aardman’s Peter Lord and BFI Chairmen Greg Dyke. There were also inspirational workshops from some of the nation’s top talents in writing, directing and sound editing.

The LUMA Film Festival invites the public to see for themselves just how challenging, rewarding, and just plain fun the processes behind filmmaking can be. With talks and workshops across the weekend hosted by some of the best in the industry, as well as screenings featuring some of the finest examples of student filmmaking in the country, LUMA champions the vast talent that can be found within the University’s Department of Theatre, Film and Television. From brilliant directors to talented cinematographers, fantastic editors to great sound mixers, LUMA is a fantastic showcase for York and offers an unparalleled platform for the students to get their work seen by a wider audience.
