Authenticity, Performance, and (‘Post')Truth in Theatre, Film, Television and Interactive Media

Thursday 22 June 2017, 9.30 am

Having received submissions from home and abroad, this year we are pleased to welcome postgraduate researchers from across the UK, as well as from the US and Pakistan. During the day, we hope to explore varying ideas of authenticity, performance, and reality with topics including, but not limited to: representations of identity, mimicry/performance, narrative techniques, audience reception and interpretation, particularly in film and television.

We are very delighted to welcome Prof. Helen Wood (Professor of Media and Communication, University of Leicester) as keynote speaker. Professor Wood is the author of Talking With Television (2009, University of Illinois Press) and co-author (with Beverley Skeggs) of Reacting to Reality Television: Audience, Performance and Value (2012, Routledge) and Reality Television and Class (2011, British Film Institute Palgrave).
