Art out of crisis: A play from the Jewish ghetto
Event details
Join us on Sunday, 16 June, for a UK premiere:The Smoke of Home, a one-act play written in the World War II Jewish ghetto at Theresienstadt. This Festival of Ideas event organized by Theatre, Film and Television lecturer Lisa Peschel features a pre-performance panel on societies in crisis that have responded with art, a performance of the play featuring student and professional actors, and a post-performance conversation with the daughter of the surviving author. The two young authors of the play dared to ask a question their fellow prisoners could not bear to face: if we survive, will we have a home to return to?
