Step Ahead Back of House Assistant 

As a Step Ahead Back of House Assistant you will be working directly with the Step Ahead team by carrying out a range of administrative duties in order to help facilitate the smooth running of the Step Ahead induction programme. This role is ideal for those looking for a short-term opportunity to gain some experience assisting with event management and other administrative roles. 

This role is only for 5 weeks over the summer and we will recruiting to fill this role in Spring 2024.

In order to be a Step Ahead Back of House Assistant you will need to:

  • Be available to attend a 15-minute interview. 
  •  
  • Be available to work 5-10 hours per week on campus between 29 July - 30 August. 
  • Be studying at the University in the 2024/5 academic year (either as an undergraduate or a postgraduate).
  • Be willing to carry out tasks to a high standard without constant supervision
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft office and google sheets. 
  • Have the ability to use your own initiative.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

As a Step Ahead Back of House Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with various administrative tasks. This includes: 

  • Printing and organising materials needed for Step Ahead including badges, posters, schedules and other necessary documents
  • Assisting with putting together Student Welcome packs and other promotional materials
  • Supporting with social media and data entry work 
  • Providing general office support and carry out other duties assigned to you by the Step Ahead organisers

Training and Support

Each Step Ahead Back of House Assistants will be supported by the central Student Communities/ Step Ahead team throughout their time in this role.

A member of the team will give you a quick 10 minute briefing before your shift. This briefing will include all tasks the team needs you to complete, including any training you might need on social media software. 

They will check in throughout the day and support you in your tasks if needed.

Rates of pay

Step Ahead Back of House Assistant will be paid £12 per hour plus holiday pay.
