Module aims

This module aims to enable students to develop an understanding of economic approaches to management and the business environment.

Module learning outcomes

  • Understand the main characteristics of macro and micro economic theory and key assumptions underlying economic models;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the implications of behavioural theory, agency theory, game theory and transaction costs for economic decision-making.
  • Demonstrate their knowledge of a wide range of economic approaches to organisations
  • Critically evaluate the contribution of economics to strategic management
  • Recognise how business behaviour reflects economic theories and beliefs
