This module supports practice learning across a range of settings. It aims to ensure that all nursing associate students are prepared to successfully meet the NMC (2018) Standards of proficiency for nursing associates at the point of registration and comprise of six platforms and two annexes.
Outcomes detailed within the NMC Standards of Proficiency detail the essential knowledge and skills that Nursing Associates must demonstrate when caring for people of all ages and across all care settings. Students will work with support from their Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisors to achieve competence in relation to the agreed NMC competencies using Nursing Associate Practice Assessment Document (NAPAD) 1 to record the different components of assessment and feedback. Students will participate in initial, mid-point and final interviews to record progress in achievement of competencies in areas such as:
Professional Values, Proficiencies, Episode(s) of Care, Medicines Management, Patient/Service User/Carer Feedback Form, Record of working with and learning from others/interprofessional working, Record of communication/additional feedback, Record of working with and learning from other; records of interpersonal working, records of personal feedback & communication, and the Ongoing Achievement Record.
By the end of the module, students will be able to:
Undertake guided participation in care
identify different components of practice learning and achieve the proficiencies, skills and values outlines within the NAPAD 1 (additional proficiencies can also be achieved from NAPAD2).
Identify own learning and engage positively, arrange to meet with the practice assessor and supervisor and maximise opportunities to learn.
Reflect upon own learning and gather service user feedback and feedback from other health professionals to inform the outcome of the assessments.
