This module will challenge students to undertake an advanced piece of research on sustainable business/ change management or lead a change management project within an organisation based on a well thought-through proposal. Throughout their projects students will be supported by an academic supervisor and business partners (where relevant). Projects can be academic or undertaken as placement with an external organisation, and completed in York or Maastricht. The outcomes of the projects will be communicated via a written dissertation, blog post and presentation at the programme conference with business partners and stakeholders.

The aims of this module are to give students the opportunity to mobilise their skills, knowledge and values to lead on the design and undertake an applied or academic independent sustainable business project.
Students who complete this module successfully will be able to:
Independently conduct advanced research and critically apply appropriate methods to analyse complex sustainability problems to inform and guide a move towards more sustainable business practice;
Identify areas of focus for change towards sustainability which consider the context in which they are working;
Independently lead on the design and implementation of effective change management and innovation strategies;
Collaborate effectively and professionally with business partners and stakeholders to implement a change management strategy;
Lead on the design of innovative and resilient solutions to real-world sustainability problems;
Communicate professionally the outcomes of a sustainable business project at a conference with business partners and stakeholders, in writing and using digital media.
Students will be supported to undertake the independent project through 1 hour bi-weekly meetings with the academic supervisor and business partner (if undertaken as placement). Weekly 2 hour workshops in the first 8 weeks of the module will help support students with the initial stages of project design.
