Module aims

The overarching aim of the module is to provide for a direct, explicit exploration of selected aspects of the interdisciplinary relationship between English and Philosophy.

Module learning outcomes

  • A critical understanding of selected philosophical issues regarding literature and literary criticism
  • A critical understanding of some of the ways in which contemporary literary theorists and critics have used philosophy
  • A critical perspective on aspects of the relation between philosophy and literature and on the ways in which the respective disciplines (philosophical and literary studies) might interact
