Module aims

At the end of this module, the student should be able to plan, conduct and evaluate testing on a wide variety of software systems.

Module learning outcomes

At the end of the module students should be able to:

  • Explain the importance of systematic testing, and of doing so throughout a software project's lifecycle
  • Select and justify appropriate testing techniques for a particular software testing situation, taking account of their strengths and weaknesses and the software’s domain, requirements and development maturity
  • Evaluate a given software testing effort using appropriate measures and standards
  • Test previously unseen software and form an appropriate evaluation of its quality

Module feedback

Students will receive feedback on their understanding via class questions during lecture sessions and by verbal comments from the lecturer and TAs during practical classes. They will receive individual written feedback on the summative assessment.
