Module aims

The aims of this module are to:

  • Introduce common concepts and techniques of vision and graphics studies
  • Introduce basics of vision and graphics programming that lays the basis for advanced studies in graphics or vision

Module learning outcomes

  • An understanding of the mathematical and theoretical foundations of computer vision and graphics
  • A detailed understanding of the image formation process, its modelling in computer vision and its simulation in computer graphics
  • A practical appreciation of some key algorithms and methods in image processing, shape-from-X, projective geometry and 3D graphics programming
  • An appreciation of the relationship between vision and graphics and their convergence in areas such as image-based rendering

Example solutions to the practical problem classes will be made available after each practical.

There will be a practical formative assessment in one of the software lab sessions. This will give you an opportunity to receive feedback on a practical programming task.
