Module aims

  • To provide a detailed understanding of key themes within geoarchaeology
  • engage with the analysis and interpretation of geoarchaeological evidence
  • encourage the critical review of laboratory results in combination with published work in geoarchaeology
  • To establish the context of artefact studies in contemporary archaeology

Module learning outcomes

  • to be able to execute basic geoarchaeological (soils/sediments) laboratory tests
  • To gain an understanding of how this data can be incorporated into mainstream landscape archaeology
  • To understand a number of key themes through in geoarchaeology
