Dr Rachel Carr OBE
Dr Rachel Carr OBE is the Chief Executive and Co-Founder at IntoUniversity, an organisation supporting young people from disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
Rachel has over twenty years of experience working with children and young people in the voluntary sector. In 2002 Rachel began devising the IntoUniversity programme at a London community centre to support children living in her local area. Since then, IntoUniversity has grown into a nationwide charity, providing support, mentoring and workshops for students of all ages to raise aspirations and introduce them to different careers and pathways.
Rachel became Chief Executive of the newly formed IntoUniversity charity in 2007. She oversaw its expansion from one learning centre to 39 and from being a local community project to a national solution to tackle educational barriers in many of the UK’s poorest neighbourhoods. IntoUniversity now works with over 45,000 young people each year.
