All students due to graduate should be aware that graduation is regarded as a public occasion. The name and programme of consenting students will be listed in the graduation brochure. This information will be also be published on our web pages and passed on to other graduation service providers. The Students’ Union produces a “Class of ....” t-shirt which lists the names of graduating students. Additionally this list is submitted to the York Press for publication.
Graduands will be asked to opt in or out of inclusion on these lists when they register for graduation on e:Vision. Classifications (eg 2:1) will not be included on any of these lists.
The ceremonies are recorded and broadcast across campus and on the internet. Graduands and guests seated in Central Hall should be aware that they may appear on this recording. By participating in graduation, graduands and guests consent to be party to these practices.
A photograph of every graduand will be taken as they are presented to the Presiding Officer on the stage at their ceremony. These images will be published on the website of the official graduation photographers (details to be confirmed). Graduands who do not want their photograph published must contact the photographers.
The University of York’s official photographers will be situated around campus taking photographs and video footage of the celebrations for future publications. Graduands and guests who do not wish their image to be used for such purpose should inform the photographer on the day.
