Household Energy Grant
As a result of the increase in energy bills, the University of York is offering a payment of £150 per eligible household as a non-repayable Household Energy Grant.
Am I eligible?
In order to be eligible for a payment, households must meet all of the following criteria:
- All-student household (regardless of fee status (Home/Overseas) or level of study)
- The household is within the City of York Council boundary or within a radius of 40 miles of the University for full-time students and 60 miles for part-time students
- The household is exempt from Council Tax
- Utility bills are not included in the rent
- All students must be registered and in active study
(Students who are distance learning or studying online are not eligible.)
How to apply
- The household must identify a lead applicant who will submit the application
- Evidence must be provided to show all members of the household are in agreement that the application be submitted. This must be confirmed at the point of application
- Evidence must be provided that utility bills are not included in the rental charge for the household (eg a utility bill for the household address)
- Evidence of tenancy agreement which includes all residents
- The lead applicant will receive the payment and must ensure that it is directed towards the intended purpose, ie payment of a utility bill
