What is the project about?

The Academic Quality, Teaching and Learning Workstream is part of the Degree Apprenticeships Implementation Project. The implementation project is developing the capabilities for the University to deliver Degree Apprenticeship (DA) programmes.

The Academic Quality, Teaching and Learning Workstream is focusing on the academic quality and policies, programme design and delivery of teaching and learning. The workstream is reviewing existing policies and processes, and making amendments as needed to meet the regulatory requirements of DA programmes.

The workstream is also developing the programme proposal and programme approval processes for new DA programmes, including the development and implementation of a Programme Design Document (PDD) for UG and PGT DA programmes, and guidance documents.

DA programmes are subject to different quality and regulatory frameworks, including the Institute for Apprenticeships, Education and Skills Funding Agency (EFSA), and Ofsted. The Academic Quality, Teaching and Learning Workstream is working with other workstreams within the implementation project to ensure that DA programmes are designed and delivered in line with these frameworks and standards.

Purpose

What are the project’s aims?

To aim of the project is to develop the capabilities for the University to deliver Degree Apprenticeship (DA) Programmes and UG and PGT level.

The Academic Quality, Teaching and Learning Workstream will:

  • develop a revised programme approval process for DA programmes
  • support and enable academic departments to design, develop and deliver high quality DA programmes for learners
  • develop systems, processes and approaches in line with the regulatory and quality frameworks for DA programmes.

How long will the project run?

Estimated to run for 2 years until March 2021.
