Disseminating the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

Many staff at the University of York conduct research into teaching and learning, contributing towards evidence-based pedagogical development in their discipline.

Dissemination of this scholarship, for example via conference presentations or publications, concretises the sometimes ephemeral nature of SoTL work, increasing the longevity and impact of particular projects and interventions. Our routes to dissemination within the SoTL Network also aim to improve those projects along the way, encouraging reflection and discussion as an integral part of the process.

York SoTL Colloquium

We hold an annual SoTL Colloquium for staff in summer term: a one-day event in which colleagues present their ongoing research into HE teaching and learning, typically in the form of 15 to 20-minute papers followed by constructive debate of evidence-informed practice.

York SoTL Journal

The York Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Journal is an in-house journal for staff and postgraduate research students of the University. Each issue features extended pieces of scholarship presenting evidence and arguments in a credible, critical manner.
