Postdoc Appreciation Week (PAW) is an annual worldwide event taking place during the third week of September. Originating in the USA in 2009, it provides a special opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the many contributions of our postdoctoral researchers at the University of York and beyond!
Postdocs are the ‘worker bees’ behind the scenes of big research projects and scientific discoveries. They plan and conduct research, analyse data, disseminate findings, interact with policymakers and industry. Beyond their role in research projects, postdocs make a hugely valuable contribution to the University and wider community. For example postdocs teach, they mentor students and junior researchers, and engage with the local community through outreach activities.
