Professor Deborah Smith, PVC Research, welcomed researchers to the third University-wide shared practice event on 9 June 2016.
The aim of the event was to bring together early career researchers and staff with a responsibility for the implementation of departmental Concordat Action Plans to share ideas about enhancing support for research.
Debbie Smith, PVC Research explained that the development and support of researchers is considered vital to the achievement of the University's vision to provide a home for some of the best research in the world, and be regarded as one of the best places worldwide to do research. She further highlighted that the University's Research Strategy 2015-2020 signals the institutional commitment to researcher development. This will be achieved by:
"recruiting and retaining the best researchers at all career stages, and supporting and mentoring existing staff, so as to offer all staff an attractive environment in which their research can flourish."
