Identify and map internal research capabilities

By identifying and mapping our internal research capability, the Research and Innovation Development Team can advise on our ability to respond to opportunities and identify potential interdisciplinary opportunities for staff and research areas.

The process of mapping internal research expertise is usually undertaken to coincide with a large interdisciplinary research bid or at the request of a senior member of staff, such as the PVC Research, to facilitate with a research communications exercise.

Where a mapping exercise has already been completed, information about researchers with related research interests requires a lead time of 5 working days. If a new mapping exercise is required this can be carried out as a desk exercise in around 1 month. Engaging these group and enabling understanding of each other’s’ research domains can take around 6 months and is usually undertaken alongside a number of events.

The International Relations Office and the Office of Philanthropic Partnerships and Alumni can also assist in finding partners and international research links.
