Karen provides strategic direction for the Research Excellence Training (RET) provision at the University of York. Working to support the University's Research Strategy, RET co-ordinates and delivers training for doctoral students, early career researchers, doctoral supervisors and Principal Investigators, and professional support staff aligned to research. Responsibilities include:

Karen has a PhD in Education, has published widely on assessment and is a trained coach and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Jane is responsible for training and development provision in the areas of researcher responsibility, the PhD process, Post Graduates Who Teach (PGWT) and research communication. She also helps support researchers with networking in their department and across disciplines.

Knowledge Exchange Training and Placement Officer

Lorna provides training in and facilitates opportunities for knowledge exchange. Lorna supports the two-way flow of ideas and people between the research environment, business and the wider community. Part of her role is to facilitate the development of collaborations and partnerships both inside and outside of academia and encompases the development and support of placement and mentoring opportunities.

Helga Smallwood

Helga supports researchers' professional and career development and research management through workshops and individual consultation. She also provides training in knowedge transfer and public engagement (PE) and organises PE events.
