The University logo is a key part of our visual identity. It is instantly recognisable. The principal logo should always be used.
The long logo can be used very occasionally, for example on the spine of a publication. If you would like to use the long logo, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The logo is available below in several colours and file formats. If you need the logo in another format or size, please contact email@example.com.
A University of York login is required to download the logo. If you need to send a logo to an external contact, download the appropriate version and email it directly to them.
Make sure that you've read the rules on using the logo. Ensure external designers are aware of these rules too.

The logo must not be modified in any way.
The logo must be positioned at the top right of any printed materials.
To help ensure that the logo is clearly defined and not obscured by any other design element, an exclusion zone has been set up. Nothing should fall within this area.
The exclusion zone is proportional to two stacked ‘U’s taken from the word UNIVERSITY.
Departments and services may not invent their own logo.
Research entities and groups should apply the 'Research stamp' opposite their logo or acronym. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for guidance.
If you are required to include the logo of another organisation on your University of York materials, there are defined placements for these on web pages, stationery and publications. Contact email@example.com team for guidance.
The University Shield and logo should not be confused with the Coat of Arms. Reproduction of the University's Coat of Arms is restricted to formal University of York documents.
The College of Arms, which regulates the official Coat of Arms, is aware that the University has decided to adopt the less formal heraldry represented by the Shield.
