Tree planted in memory of Chris Edmonson

Posted on 11 November 2019

The SUPA Group have planted a Japanese maple tree.

As many people will be aware, our colleague Chris Edmondson tragically died in May of this year. In memory of Chris, the Service User and Carer Participation and Advisory (SUPA) Group, of which Chris was a member, have planted a Japanese maple tree in his memory. The tree is planted just outside the Social Policy and Social Work building, along with a commemorative plaque which reads: "This tree was planted in July 2019 in memory of Chris Edmondson, a much loved and respected friend and colleague, and founder member of the SUPA Group."

Also in Chris’ memory, the SUPA Group will be presenting the Chris Edmondson award each year to the Social Work student who has most effectively demonstrated how service user involvement has improved their professional practice. Chris was an inspiration to many students here at York, so it feels really fitting that we should honour his memory in this way.
