Social Work lecturer Sara Ward writes: Students prepared for the event as part of the Professional Development Groups, which aim to introduce students to theories, concepts and issues related to the profession.

The art event is an opportunity for students to consider what influenced them to train as a social worker and how they have developed during their first term.

It is also a very enjoyable opportunity for the students view each others art works and discuss their individual creative responses to the brief.

Despite some initial reservations at being asked to produce a piece of art to reflect this, the work produced by the students was of a really high standard. The work was fascinating, providing a good insight into the backgrounds and motivating factors that students bring to the course.
