Visit from the Korea Institute of Public Administration (KIPA)

Professor Ellison and President Lee sign the MoU watched by Dr Hudson and Mr Won Seok

On 22 November, the Department of Social Policy and Social Work were hosts to a delegation from the Korea Institute of Public Administration (KIPA) that was led by President Eun-jae Lee. President Lee was joined by: Mr Suh, Won Seok, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Public Relations; Mr Ahn, Hyug Keun, Head of the Planning Team and Mr Jang, Sanghwan, Administrative officer, Administrative Support Office.

KIPA were on campus by invitation from Dr. Neil Lunt who visited South Korea in September as part of the University delegation to organised by the International Relations Office and led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Jane Grenville. During the visit, Neil had visited the KIPA HQ in Seoul to promote the University and the work of the Social Policy East Asia eXchange (SPEAX).

The delegation were met by Professor Nick Ellison, Head of Department; Dr John Hudson, Senior Lecturer and Deputy Head of Department; Dr Neil Lunt, Reader in Social Policy and Public Sector Management. They were joined by Karl Ward and Anna Wishart of the International Relations Office.

After discussions around opportunities for research linkages and staff exchange followed by a tour of the campus, the group gathered in Heslington Hall to sign a Memorandum of Understanding formalising the relationship, and making a commitment to explore opportunities together.
