Chris Walsh Memorial 2018

Posted on 27 July 2018

This year the prize has been awarded to Laura Johal

This annual award is given in remembrance of SPS student Chris Walsh who contributed hugely to university life.

We honour his contribution by awarding an annual prize of £100 to celebrate someone within SPS who has also enriched the lives of people around them with their enthusiasm for extracurricular activities at university. Nominations were made from all three years.

It is with great pleasure that we announce that the 2018 Chris Walsh Memorial Prize has been awarded to Laura Johal.

Laura has made a sustained and positive contribution to SPS from the beginning of her studies to the very end. As staff we have appreciated her useful contribution and insights into how we might continue to make improvements to the SPS degree programme.  But this prize is not from staff  but it is from her fellow students. In many ways, it is easier to get noticed by staff looking for keen volunteers to participate in various committees or to help out on open days. It is harder to win the respect and support of colleagues. And Laura was nominated by more colleagues than any other student. And with this prize, her colleagues and staff alike join together to say thank you for her contribution to the SPS community…
