Department of Sociology moves into the world top 100

Sociology moves into the world top 100 in the QS by subject rankings 2019

This week the Department confirmed its place among the world's most highly regarded departments for the subject of Sociology. The Department is ranked 13th in the UK and in the world top 100 in the QS rankings.

Published annually since 2011, the QS World University rankings by subject highlight the world’s top universities in a range of popular subject areas, covering 48 subjects in 2019. Universities are scored according to academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact (number of citations per paper).

In total, seven departments at the University were ranked in the world top 100: Archaeology (15th), English and Related Literature (24th), History (top 100), Language and Linguistic Science (top 100), Psychology (top 100), Social Policy and Social Work (9th) and Sociology (top 100).
