Green Impact Award

Posted on 23 May 2013

The Department of Sociology has been awarded Bronze status through the NUS Green Impact Strategy

For the last year Sociology's Green Impact Committee have been working to examine the 'green' profile of the Department and how we can make the Department a more environmentally friendly place to work and study. This has involved working through the NUS Green Impact Strategy to ensure that certain criteria, such as improving recycling facilities, are met by the Department. We're delighted to announce that following this work the Department has been awarded Bronze status and Dr Kimberly Jamie and Dr Sian Beynon-Jones will be attending an awards ceremony in June to share this success with other York departments that have been participating in Green Impact.

The Green Impact Committee are now turning their attention to building on this success and achieving Silver status next year. If you are a current undergraduate or postgraduate student and would like to get involved in Green Impact in the Department, please email Dr Merran Toerien at merran.toerien@york.ac.uk
