Sarah Nettleton talking about her research on Fell Running in the Lake District

Posted on 20 December 2012

Back in October, Prof Sarah Nettleton took part in a seminar on Endurance Sports at the University of Warwick.

A video of her talk is available here. Among other things, Sarah outlines why she is so passionate about research in this area, while also stressing why she thinks that research on these, often elderly, fell runners is important. The main focus of the paper is on why older men and women fell run not only because of health but also the intrinsic nature of the body techniques that compells them to keep running (even in the face of health issues). In this respect, it focuses on the embodiment of fell running. One of the exciting products of the conference was a cartoon of each of the speakers' paper, produced by a professional cartoonist, and reproduced above.
