POSTPONED: Pathways to Impact: Securing Benefit for the Developing World

Tuesday 8 November 2016, 1.30PM to 4.00pm

*** This event has been postponed. Details of the rescheduled date will be announced shortly ***

The Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) is a £1.5 billion fund announced by the UK Government to support cutting-edge research that addresses the challenges faced by developing countries through:

  • challenge-led disciplinary and interdisciplinary research
  • strengthening capacity for research and innovation within both the UK and developing countries
  • providing an agile response to emergencies where there is an urgent research need

GCRF funding requires research to contribute towards ODA, promoting welfare and economic development and meeting development needs - impact is therefore an implicit component of ODA research.

This introductory workshop will give you time to reflect and consider how you might embed impact into a GCRF project, strengthening pathways to impact within developing countries through mechanisms such as building research capacity and collaborations with academics in developing countries, building partnerships and collaborative links with NGOs/charities/civil society in developing countries and developing further collaborative opportunities to strengthen international links.

The session will include input from academic speakers and will be led by trainer Jenn Chubb.
