Wednesday 8 June 2016, 2.00PM to 4:00pm
Speaker(s): Mark Carrigan, Digital Sociologist and Social Media Consultant
This hands-on session builds on the morning workshop by leading participants through the practicalities of networking using the micro-blogging platform Twitter, arguably the most established social media platform within UK higher education.
Participants should have created a Twitter feed prior to the session but no prior experience is necessary.
The workshop will cover a range of practical topics: crafting a Twitter profile, emerging etiquette on the platform, deciding who to follow, generating ideas about what to Tweet, using hashtags effectively, avoiding distraction and live tweeting from conferences. All of these will be framed through a common theme of the capacity of social media to help you form useful and engaging connections which will benefit your career and your scholarship.
Admission is by free ticket only, so please book your place through Eventbrite
